Andy Woon and Martin Litton


Andy Woon, trumpet & Martin Litton, piano:

Andy Woon plays both the trumpet and flugelhorn. He started his trumpet playing when he was in the Royal Artillery Band during the 1970s. It was there that he honed his virtuoso style of playing. He then worked for the Bernard Delfont Organisation for a number of years and backed many well know celebrities including Danny La Rue, Jimmy Tarbuck and Ken Goodwin. He also had a 14 year spell in the Syd Dean Orchestra. He founded his first band in 1993 and has become very popular on the jazz festival circuit. His style of playing is based on Clifford Brown and Louis Armstrong - Martin Litton is an internationally renowned pianist, arranger, and bandleader, specialising in all the classic styles of jazz from the age of Ragtime through to the Swing era and beyond. He has broadcast frequently on BBC Radio 3, talking about and demonstrating the music of Jelly Roll Morton, Fats Waller, Earl Hines and Teddy Wilson
